LAS VEGAS — This September, Beta Engineering attended the RE+ 2023 Conference & Tradeshow in Las Vegas. The show saw record-breaking numbers, including more than 40,000 attendees and over 1,350 exhibitors.
Our team participated in numerous events throughout the show. On Sep. 12, Beta Engineering sponsored and participated in the Women in Renewable Energy Reception, which celebrated women who are leading the way in the renewable energy sector.
Throughout the week, Beta's team introduced attendees to our innovative Agile by Beta® product family at our exhibit booth on the show floor. We used a custom LEGO model of one of our real-life Agile substations to help explain and visualize the Agile modular construction approach, which leverages Factory-Built Substations to improve schedule certainty and move construction activity from the field to the factory. This fast-paced construction method is helping accelerate the transition to cleaner energy, and Beta's Agile team has already connected more than 1,500MW of solar and wind power.
Beta's Director of Agile Eric Veuleman, PE, joined a panel of experts from three of our partner companies on the Power Up Live stage with Suncast podcast host Nico Johnson to discuss ways to overcome barriers to renewable interconnections. Co-panelists included Rob Anders with EDP Renewables North America, Jaime Fernandez with Nextracker Inc, and Chris Haltom with TorcSill Foundations.
"In 630 episodes of Suncast, I've never had an engineering firm talk Scope 1 and 2 emissions," Johnson said after Veuleman shared that Beta Engineering and the Crest Industries family of companies are carbon negative for Scope 1 and 2 emissions.
Beta also participated in the RE+ Technical Poster Reception. Beta Continuous Improvement Manager Chris Wilson presented a poster on "Reducing Project Risk with Integrated Design & Critical Chain Project Management." This poster presented on a high level how project teams can use Integrated Design & Construction (IDC) methodologies and Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM) to resolve potential conflicts before they negatively impact the project and answer questions before they are even asked. The poster also showed examples of some of the time and schedule savings Beta has achieved on its substation projects as a result of IDC and CCPM. Read more on our blog.
We look forward to seeing you next year at Booth #93031 at RE+ 2024 in Anaheim, CA, Sep. 9-12. In the meantime, reach out to discuss your high-voltage project needs, and let's continue the clean energy conversation.
