In 2022, Beta Engineering helped power delivery customers across the U.S. connect more than 500 megawatts of renewable energy to the grid. That’s enough electricity to power up to more than 100,000 homes.

The U.S. renewable energy market has seen considerable growth in recent years, and in the first half of 2022, solar accounted for 39% of all new electric generating capacity additions. The U.S. solar market alone now represents about 4.5% of the nation’s electricity mix.

As more utilities and developers transition to renewable energy sources, Beta and its conventional EPC and Agile by Beta® product families are here to support their needs. Agile can offer cost and schedule savings that can be critical for getting renewable energy online quickly and helping customers and organizations reach their carbon-neutral goals.

This year, Beta’s Agile team energized multiple renewable projects, including these two solar substations.

  • 138/34.5kV collector substation for a 180MW solar farm // This case study dives into how we helped our customer achieve a successful interconnection in the face of numerous procurement and weather challenges.

230/34.5kV collector substation for a 193MW solar farm // This project interconnects the largest solar farm in the state.

Another sustainability milestone that Beta reached this year was the announcement of its carbon negative status. Third-party firms determined Beta and the Crest Industries Family of Companies to be carbon negative for all scope 1 and scope 2 emissions, sequestering 30 times more greenhouse gases than are directly emitted into the environment.

As our customers find new ways to support a clean energy future, Beta stands ready to support their high voltage project needs and create a more resilient, renewable grid.
