In northwest Louisiana, a new utility-scale solar project is taking shape that will deliver lasting benefits for both the grid and local communities. The Hollis Creek Solar Project in Sabine Parish—one of two major developments by Treaty Oak Clean Energy—will add 200 megawatts of renewable energy capacity, supporting energy independence and long-term regional growth.
Hollis Creek is expected to generate enough clean energy to power approximately 40,000 homes once operational in the first half of 2027 and is part of a broader two-project solar portfolio that also includes the Beekman Solar Project in Morehouse Parish.
At the Hollis Creek Solar Project in Sabine Parish, Louisiana-based firm Beta Engineering is partnering with Treaty Oak Clean Energy to deliver the high-voltage infrastructure that will connect this utility-scale solar facility to the grid. Beta is completing the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the project’s 230kV substation, switchyard, and generation tie-line, working alongside Primoris Renewable Energy, which is building the photovoltaic facilities.
To support a safer, more efficient delivery of this critical 230kV infrastructure, Beta is deploying its Agile by Beta® Factory-Built approach for the 230kV substation portion of the project, where the solar power is stepped up to transmission-level voltage. By shifting construction to a controlled factory environment, with the Factory-Built Substation manufactured and assembled in Central Louisiana, Beta is helping reduce field risk, improve quality, and provide greater schedule certainty. This approach also supports skilled local jobs and workforce development in Louisiana.
This collaborative effort underscores how experienced partners and innovative construction methods can accelerate renewable energy development while maintaining the reliability and performance the grid requires.
"Partnering with Louisiana-based companies like Beta Engineering is important to us. It's another way we can ensure projects like Hollis Creek deliver meaningful economic impact that stays in the state while building reliable clean energy infrastructure."
— Chris Elrod, CEO, Treaty Oak Clean Energy
"We build energy infrastructure across the country, but it's especially meaningful when we have the opportunity to work close to home. Partnering with Treaty Oak on a project like this allows us to apply our experience in a way that directly benefits Louisiana communities."
— Brad Fontenot, President, Beta Engineering
Beyond clean power generation, the Hollis Creek Solar Project will deliver economic benefits for Sabine Parish and the surrounding region. The project will support local jobs during construction and operations and is projected to contribute millions of dollars in state and local tax revenue over its lifetime, providing long-term value for Louisiana communities while supporting growing energy demand from large corporate customers.
Headquartered in Austin, TX, Treaty Oak Clean Energy develops, builds, and operates clean energy projects in targeted U.S. markets. The company works with consumers and communities to create reliable, cost-effective energy solutions that benefit generations to come. Treaty Oak is a Macquarie Asset Management portfolio company, operating on a stand-alone basis.
