At Beta, we make safety our top priority at our job sites and in our offices 365 days a year. During National Safety Month this year, Beta Engineering is highlighting our safety record and how we are continuing to improve safety for our customers, partners and employees at our project sites.

We have received numerous testimonies from our customers commending Beta for our safety record on construction sites. During the past four years, Beta has had zero recordable injuries. Our team has worked over 2.7 million hours with no lost time, and our current experience modification rate (EMR) is 0.66.

EMR is an annual metric based on a company’s worker’s compensation claims compared to the industry average. While EMR is measured by insurance companies to set insurance premiums, it is also an industry metric for safety. Having an EMR of 1.0 means the company has an average safety record compared to the industry. EMRs under 1.0 indicate a company has an overall safety record that is better than average for the industry.

According to Beta Safety Specialist Taylor DuBois, our frontline teams implemented numerous safety plans and initiatives in 2021 to help raise safety awareness. “This helped Beta also achieve an increase of over 400% in effective hazard identification and elimination,” said DuBois.

In our increasingly digital world, safety also extends beyond the jobsite. Beta Engineering and our parent company Crest Operations continue to scale our security systems to stay ahead of cybersecurity threats. Employees receive cybersecurity training and communications about emerging cyber threats to raise awareness about cybersecurity.
