CANTON, Miss. — Beta Engineering is proud to partner with EDP Renewables North America (EDPR NA) on its Ragsdale Solar Park, a 100-megawatt (MW) utility-scale solar park under construction located near Canton, MS. Beta’s product family Agile by Beta® is engineering and constructing the 230/34.5kV substation that will connect the solar facility to the electrical grid.
The Agile by Beta® project approach shifts the substation construction from the field to the factory. This helps accelerate the project, increases schedule certainty, and reduces safety risks in the field. Once the substation is built inside a weather-controlled environment, it will be shipped in modular sections to the project site, where it will be installed in a matter of days.
In July, EDPR NA hosted a community outreach event for the Ragsdale Solar Park in Canton, MS. Beta Engineering participated in the event, along with other project vendors and contractors. Together, we connected with landowners, community members, and local elected leaders to answer questions and explain the plans for the project.
The clean energy resource will contribute more than $36 million in additional funding to the local government over the project’s 35-year life, and more than half will go to the Canton School District. The Ragsdale project will also bring economic opportunities for the area, including 100-200 construction jobs, and will save more than 127 million gallons of water each year.
We are excited to help sustainably generate enough energy to power more than 15,000 Mississippi homes! The Ragsdale Solar Park is just one of multiple solar energy projects we are currently working on with EDPR NA. To date, Beta has interconnected more than 4,500MW in renewable energy projects to the U.S. power grid.
Beta Engineering is a private, family-owned engineering, procurement and construction company headquartered in Pineville, LA, with offices in San Diego and Ohio. Beta has been building high-voltage substation and transmission line projects for power delivery companies across the U.S. since 1975. Contact our team of experts to discuss your project needs.
