Everyone in the EPC services industry knows that the term stands for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction, but at Beta Engineering it carries an additional meaning: excellence, professionalism, and commitment.
Our company has provided EPC services for high voltage substations and transmission lines across the United States for more than 35 years. We are committed to building high-quality products while, at the same time, maintaining an intense focus on a high level of customer service.
Call it high-tech meets high-touch, we combine professional technical expertise with a passion for excellence in client satisfaction. It is our hallmark and has been so since the beginning.
But enough about who we are. Let's talk more about the EPC services we provide.
Beta Engineering specializes in carrying out detailed engineering designs for complex projects that include gas insulated substations (GIS), switchyards and substations, high voltage transmission lines, and FACTS projects. We procure all the necessary equipment and materials, and then construct a functioning facility for our clients.
Beta Engineering has demonstrated expertise in construction of the following types of high voltage electrical projects.
An important part of the electrical generation, transmission and distribution system, substations transform voltage from high to low, or vice versa, and provide the ties, transformation, switching and protection of the transmission and distribution networks.
A switching substation or switchyard, is a substation without transformers that operates only at a single voltage level. Switchyards, used mainly for connections and interconnections, are essential for transmission, distribution, collection, and controlling the flow of electricity.
A gas-insulated substation (GIS) is a high voltage substation in which the primary structures are contained in a sealed environment with sulfur hexafluoride gas as the insulating medium.
Electricity is transmitted at high voltages to reduce the amount of energy lost across long distances. Power is usually transmitted through overhead power lines, although underground transmission lines are sometimes used. High voltage transmission lines are made up of either copper or aluminum conducting lines suspended from towers.
High voltage Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) control network voltage by maintaining acceptable voltage limits. The system regulates voltage by dynamically adjusting the amount of power either injected into or absorbed by the power system. FACTS are a valuable tool for enhancing grid capacity and performance, increasing the reliability and efficiency of power transmission, and mitigating power oscillations.
Beta’s team of electrical engineers, civil engineers, and project managers designs and builds high voltage projects across the country. Our professional expertise in providing EPC services is matched only by our commitment to customer service. That's more than a slogan; it's a promise.
