Usually summer means a well-deserved break for teachers. But 26 Central Louisiana teachers recently visited with Beta and its Crest Industries sister companies to learn about the skills and qualifications they are seeking in employees.
The Workplace Experience Exchange Camp is designed to allow teachers to provide links between the skills and knowledge taught in the classroom with those being used in the workplace. Program organizers hope these interactions between teachers and employers will ultimately better prepare students for the workplace.
Teachers viewed Beta’s 3-D substation designs and talked with Beta team members about job opportunities and skills needed for those positions. Teachers also toured DIS-TRAN Packaged Substation’s Project Support Services Center at the Central Alexandria Regional Port.
