Attendees of the 2018 Fall Substation Design Solution (SDS) Industry Consortium got a taste Louisiana’s famed music and food during the four-day event held in Alexandria. Beta participated in the October event, which drew more than 150 utility industry professionals.

Participants gathered to establish common workflows, common toolkit functionality, shared libraries, common standards, technology needs, and address other topics that help drive Autodesk and SBS to software development according to an industry standard. Beta Civil Engineer C.J. Marcello gave a presentation to the SDS Civil Committee about using 3ds Max to model Civil 3D objects as well as how to compile 3D objects from multiple other programs into a 3D pdf.

Beta participated in the Vendor Fair during the Festival de Louisiane, which featured various carnival games and food. Visitors to Beta’s table tried their hand at Washers, a horseshoe-like game that involves pitching rings towards a box with a center cup.

The SDS Industry Consortium is made up of member utilities that have adopted or are investigating for adoption the Autodesk and SBS suite of software products (Inventor, AutoCAD Electrical and Substation Design Suite) with Autodesk and SBS, the software developers. The SDS Industry Consortium drives standards to promote common library development from internal resources, external partners, and/or equipment manufacturers.
