Beta recently completed construction on the Devers-Red Bluff 500kV series capacitor bank near Desert Center, California. This project was constructed for Southern California Edison via a consortium agreement between Beta and Siemens Energy.
The series capacitor bank is needed to support the transmission of renewable energy along a new transmission line between Devers and Red Bluff, California. Beta was responsible for all construction activities, including the engineering and construction of six 27’ x 50’ elevated 500kV capacitor platforms, a MEER (Mechanical Electrical Equipment Room) and a maintenance building.
Beta and Siemens are currently in the commissioning and testing stages of the project and are scheduled to complete these activities in early December, with the capacitor bank scheduled to be in service by the end of the year.
