Beta was proud to sponsor Fluor’s Golf for Greenville charity golf tournament in South Carolina. This year’s event set a new record by raising $601,000 for four local charities, including Center for Developmental Services, Homes of Hope, Science on the Move and The Salvation Army of Greenville. The charities plan to use the funds to help further their missions:

The Center for Developmental Services offers community services for children and individuals with delays and disabilities. It will expand the Wonder Center, which provides day care services for medically fragile children who need constant medical care.

Homes of Hope provides safe, affordable and energy efficient housing for low- to moderate-income families and individuals. It also rebuilds lives through the Men’s Development program, which provides a residential job training and mentoring program for men overcoming drug and alcohol addiction. The organization will purchase a skills training facility to support its job training and mentoring program.

Science on the Move is a 4H program designed to build science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) interest and education in schools and communities. It will purchase a van and activity kits to support their STEM education program.

The Salvation Army of Greenville provides shelter and meals to the homeless and hungry, rehabilitation services to men struggling with addictions, clothing assistance for the destitute, prescription assistance for the sick and rent and utility assistance for the struggling. It will complete much needed renovations to the Greenville Family Thrift Store, which funds its rehabilitation program.
